Gaboon Viper from the Memphis Zoo
![]()
I can't believe how much she moved today. I went early and took these photographs. This beautiful viper has never been so active as she was today. Therefore, I sure took as many pictures as I could. There are zoo workers who came by and even commented that they'd never seen her moving that much. This took about an hour, and the whole time, she was active. I was so surprised. I was sure that she could "hear" me. At least, I'd like to believe she did. She's my very favorite animal in the entire zoo. And I love so many of the animals in there, so that's saying a lot. I wanted to photograph my second favorite animal, which is the cheetah. But it was so warm, all three of them were sleeping I don't blame them. Maybe next time.
I got my adoption papers. She's a female from Kenya. Today (Sept 18, 2005) I found a name which I will call her:
Chanyashani
It's eastern African for "marvelous artist of Kenya"
